CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Uncertain tribe. Circa 60-30/25 BC. Quarter Stater (Gold, 12 mm, 1.38 g, 1 h), 'au petit serpent cornu' type. Devolved and disjointed laureate male head to right. Rev. Celticized horse to right, horseman devolved into serpent-like figure; to right, pellet in annulet; below, volute. DT 330-331. LT -. SLM -. Very rare. A lovely example of this charming issue. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
